What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is simply an altered state of awareness. During this natural state of deep relaxation, the
mind is free of constraints and preconceptions. This open state is more receptive to exploration and
therapeutic suggestion that helps address issues and affect positive change.

How does hypnosis work?

Truthfully, how hypnosis works isn’t well understood. It is ethereal, like the wind. We know it exists,
we can even produce it. But there is nothing to see or touch.

Why is hypnosis so successful?

Think of your mind in two parts. The conscious is logical, analytical, intellectual and makes decisions
on learned behaviour. The subconscious is creative and imaginative. Hypnosis relaxes the conscious
mind so positive suggestion can be directed to the subconscious. This enables greater selfawareness
and access to your own inner resources.

Is hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis is a drug‐free, safe and natural process with no side effects. The hypnotic state is
maintained by consent and you remain aware and in control.

How can hypnosis help me?

Hypnosis is a natural alternative to drugs, needles or surgery and can successfully help with a wide
range of health, career and personal issues.

How many sessions will I need?

That depends on the nature of your issue. Some concerns need only a few sessions, others take
longer. Ask your therapist at the first meeting.

How much does hypnotherapy cost?

The cost is $110 per 60 minute session. Concessions are available for students and pensioners.
Payment by cheque or cash, or internet transfer on the day is accepted. No credit card or EFTPOS
facilities are available. If you are unable to keep your appointment a minimum of 24 hours notice is
required. Late cancellations will incur a fee of $40.

What is Ego State Therapy?

Ego State Therapy is a powerful and brief therapy based on the premise that personality is
composed of separate parts, rather than a homogeneous whole. The therapist works directly with
the state that can best benefit from change.

What is Calm Childbirth?

Calm Childbirth is a unique method of relaxed, natural childbirth education, enhanced by selfhypnosis
techniques. It empowers women to use their natural instincts and bring about a safer,
easier, more comfortable birthing. Emphasis is placed on pregnancy and childbirth, as well as on
pre‐birth parenting and the consciousness of the pre‐born baby. As a birthing method,
Calm Childbirth is as new as tomorrow and as old as ancient times.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Absolutely, and they should! For self insight, it has no equal. Exploring thoughts and emotions
inside yourself but outside your control leads to enlightenment and liberation. Hypnotherapy helps
you shake off inhibitions and dissatisfaction with life, no matter what the cause.

How will it feel to be hypnotised?

Everyone experiences hypnosis differently ... some feel heaviness, others light. Most agree this
altered state is deeply relaxing and induces a sense of calm wellbeing. You will be aware of the
therapist throughout and recall all that happens. You will not say or do things you choose not to.

Will I be asleep or unconscious during hypnosis?

It is the subconscious mind that is active during hypnosis. You will be aware of what is happening
throughout the session but may be so relaxed you feel yourself drifting.

Will I remember everything that happened?

Most people recall all or certain parts of their hypnosis experience. You will find suggestions made
by your therapist during the session will resurface in the conscious mind. This is how chances occur
in your behaviour, thinking and feeling.

Does hypnosis have side effects?

Because hypnosis is a natural state, there are only enjoyable and beneficial side effects. You’ll feel
more relaxed, confident and positive afterwards.

Is my hypnotherapy treatment confidential?

Of course, any knowledge your hypnotherapist acquires about you is kept completely private.

Do I have to remember things from my past to recover from my problem?

Not always but sometimes recalling a repressed memory can help you to view the problem differently and grow a new perspective.
